Welcome to Buddy -
the IFS self therapy chatbot

If you are currently experiencing severe symptoms of anxiety, depression, or any other mental health condition, or if you have a history of severe PTSD, psychosis, childhood trauma, substance abuse, or self-harm, we recommend that you DO NOT use this chatbot and instead seek professional help.

This chatbot is intended to help guide you in doing a solo Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy session. If you don't know what IFS is, this video can give you a basic introduction.

Before you start, please keep in mind:
  • This chatbot is not a substitute for professional therapy.
  • You can chat with Buddy and it will respond as if it were your therapist, but please remember it is only a chatbot and has limitations.
  • Please take care of yourself during the session and stop if you feel overwhelmed or need a break.
  • Buddy will guide you through finding the Self and talking to protectors and exiles.
  • The goal of the session is to help you understand your internal family system better.
None of these chats are stored by this website, so feel free to ask Buddy to summarize the session at the end for your own keeping.

By clicking this button you take responsibility for your use of the chatbot and understand its limitations. This disclaimer can be found in the menu if you want to read it again.

Your true Self is:

  • Compassionate
  • Curious
  • Calm
  • Confident
  • Clear
  • Creative
  • Connected
  • Courageous
There's no agenda, no problem to solve. You're fully authentic.

Through the session, try to practice:
  • Presence
  • Patience
  • Perspective
  • Persistence
  • Playfulness

Try to notice during the session if you are feeling any other way towards your parts (for example: feelings of judgement, impatience, anger, skepticism, inadequacy, or intellectualizing thoughts). If so, another part might have taken over. Ask if it can take a step back and allow you to be in Self for now. If it keeps coming back, turn your attention towards this part.

Welcome to today's session. Say hello to begin
